Gene-based thinking

Most gene-based yarns are completely unproven, and do not adhere to the standards of scientific "rigour" that these authors so vehemently espouse. E.g. stupid theories about how your genes make middle-aged men dance badly, because we have evolved to take such people out of the gene pool. Complete load of crap with no proof whatsoever.
Science is a process of orthodoxy. Popular science is a particular orthodoxy that has gone particularly unquestioned. This is due to most scientists' perception that religion is anti-science, and their support of anybody who is anti-religion - regardless of how good a scientist they are. Practitioners of science are the truest "believers". Most have never heard of Kuhn.
