More about the Unfocus Group
From Unfocusgroup.org
This is a forum for exploring alternative options to mainstream thought. New alternatives do not have to be fully-formed or cohesive. People are often afraid to speak up because they fear ridicule for not having thought things through. But I think that it is fine to have half an idea. Someone else might have the other half. The unfocus group is chaotic, but hopefully from the chaos shall spring fresh ideas. It is like a modern-day primeval soup.
This is a forum where we highlight stupidity due to groupthink, peer pressure and false authority. Once people have this pointed out to them, they cannot help but to stop blindly following the orthodoxy and to at least develop an opinion of their own.
Once you have pointed out to a person how blindly they are following the crowd, there is no going back. You have opened pandora's box and opened their eyes. It is an awakening, and only the most stubborn will refuse to start thinking for themselves and continue as they were.
In order to reach a mass audience, we need to explain things in simple terms. Points are scored for simplicity of expression rather than eloquent wordplay.

This stuff was on the homepage, but nobody ever read it.
"Groupthink is the enemy of change"
The Unfocus Group is a whiteboard for social change. It is a collaborative forum for people who wish to create a better world, but who feel silenced by populist or traditional thinking.
There is no set agenda for the Unfocus Group. We are here to discuss and formulate ideas, rather than to make definite proposals. Think of the Unfocus Group as a sounding board, where taboos are broken and people can speak their minds without fear of ridicule. If definite plans do emerge, spin-off groups can be created to campaign on particular issues as need be.
Seeking new members. Anyone can join. Nobody will tell you off!
We do not have a hierarchy. No culture or orthodoxy will ever emerge within the Unfocus Group. We seek change through the deconstruction of the High Priesthoods of thought. Nobody has the right to tell you what to think.
By the way, we're not here to voice the opinion of the "silent majority" or anything the Daily Mail would espouse. Also, we are not a bunch of perverts or anything sinister. Just thought it's worth making that clear, to avoid misunderstanding! This is an organisation based on new avenues of thought.
You should definitely join the Unfocus Group if you find that people give you a funny look whenever you speak or do anything, or if you feel constantly hushed for opening a can of worms.
New ideas are welcomed, provided that they are original and not somebody elses! Ideas do not necessarily have to be cohesive or fully formed. It's ok just to say that the emperor has no clothes, without proposing exactly how to clothe said emperor.
To put it another way, this is a meeting place to express dissent, and to challenge established orthodoxies. It is also a place where we can catalogue new ideas.
